Anonymous readership analytics

When connected, Plausible measures page views, approximate unique visitors, traffic sources, time on pages, scrolling, outbound destination domains, downloads, and successful newsletter requests. It does not use analytics cookies. We do not send names, email addresses, form text, private links, or owner pages. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable analytics on this site. Unique visitors are estimates, not identified people.

Optional session recordings

Microsoft Clarity loads only after you choose to allow recordings below, and only when the service is connected. It can record clicks, scrolling, and page interactions and use analytics cookies. Forms and comments are masked. Owner pages, email management links, and pages with query strings or fragments are excluded. Advertising storage is denied. Your choice is saved on this browser; you can withdraw it here.

Optional reading tools

The reading shelf saves up to 50 story titles and links on this browser. It has no account or cross-device sync. Remove a saved letter on the shelf, or clear browser data to clear all saves. Quotations and exported files are prepared on your device; this site does not upload your selected text or shelf. Browser speech starts only when you choose Listen. Voice processing depends on your browser and device.

Optional music

The listening room uses official YouTube or Spotify players. The selected provider receives connection information and may use cookies when you open that room; its own privacy policy and playback terms apply. No music player loads on the other journal pages.

Reader comments

Comments store your chosen name, text, date, and review status in this site’s database. No email or social login is required. Only approved comments appear publicly. A temporary hashed request identifier limits spam. After submitting, save your private removal link to delete your comment, even after approval.

The journal owner reviews comments and may remove spam, harassment, or unrelated material. Names are chosen by readers and are not verified identities.

When you join, this journal stores your email address, signup date, consent record, and subscription status. Your address is used for journal emails, not sold or shared for advertising.

Scheduled journal emails send automatically after publication to confirmed subscribers. Signup confirmations wait for owner approval before delivery. Your signup remains unconfirmed until you confirm through an email link. You can cancel a new request using the private cancellation link shown after signup. Every journal email includes an unsubscribe link.

Subscriber records are stored in the site’s Cloudflare database. Resend receives your address to deliver confirmation messages and journal emails. Your optional name and private relationship notes are stored in the journal database. Temporary, hashed request identifiers help limit automated signups and expire after one hour.

Unsubscribed addresses are retained as a suppression record so they are not contacted again without renewed confirmation.
